Sant Miquel De Cruilles Benedictine Monastery

Address:Carretera de la Bisbal a Cassà de la Selva. 17116 Sant Sadurní de l'Heura

The Monastery of Sant Miquel de Cruïlles is in the midst of a quiet rural environment, at the foot of the Gavarres mountains. Although it no longer hosts the original Benedictine community that created it, this little church remains still one of the Romanesque buildings of greater importance in Ampurdán. Built in the Xth century, inside its three-nave ground has been found important art works, that for safety have been moved to Girona Art Museum, as remnants of murals, a wood carving crucified Christ and a beautiful painted beam that was on a baldachin.
