During a day of mid-September, the fishing village of l'Escala honors its most famous traditional industry. It is the Salt Feast, also of anchovy products, closely associated with a time of prosperity. Centuries ago salt came by sea and was stored in the salt storehouse building (Alfolí de la Sal., now an exhibition to be visited), the same place where anchovies were produced. Platja de les Barques beach, is the main stage where dramatized historical reenactments take place, with period costumes and crafts, traditional dances and musical evening in the night.
