Well connected to key locations in north Catalonia (Barcelona, Girona or Figueres), Sant Feliu de Guíxols is situated in a privileged place on the Costa Brava.
The village offers a wide variety of contrasting landscapes, combining the characteristic cliffs typical of the Costa Brava with numerous sandy beaches.
Sant Feliu de Guíxols is one of the largest towns on the Costa Brava that flourished with the cork industry and seafaring tradition (the shipyards are still conserved today). It has retained a wealth of Modernista (Catalan Art Nouveau) and Noucentista architectural heritage (La Constància casino, Moorish in style and painted an apricot colour, and the houses on Sant Pol beach).
Formerly small fishing village, Sant Feliu de Guíxols preserves a rich heritage. First you have the Benedictine monastery, with its Romanesque style (the Porta Ferrada is the oldest). It also highlights, with this set, the chapel of Mare de Déu dels Àngels (Mother of God of Angels), and the towers of the Corn (Horn) and Fum (Smoke). Currently this buildings houses the History Museum of the City, and has been proposed as the future site of a part of the Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum, given the close link between the owner, Tita Cervera, with Sant Feliu, where she owns a fantastic villa.
The main activity of Sant Feliu has traditionally been the cork industry, as in many other towns of the Ampurdán. And indeed even today in its architectural heritage are preserved remains of this past, not so far. Modernist houses in the beach of Sant Pol are witnesses of that time when the bourgeoisie wanted to show off their power by building magnificent houses. These were located mainly near the beach in Sant Feliu de Guíxols.
Be sure to visit the hermitage of Sant Elm, which offers one of the most spectacular panoramic of the Costa Brava. It was from here that, in 1908, the Catalan journalist Ferran Agulló baptized with the name "Costa Brava" (for the ruggedness of its rocky coastline) this wonderful part of the Mediterranean.
The area around Sant Feliu de Guxols also contains an interesting natural area: the mountains of the Massif Gavarras or Ardenya (towards Tossa de Mar, in the south) are very close examples. These territories, especially the first, contain a good network of well marked trails that invite to attractive routes. There is also a greenway, which can be easily traveled by bicycle, linking the village with Girona, reaching beyond to Olot, inside Catalonia. This is the old drive train that ran through the famous narrow gauge, "Feliuet", until it was closed in the 60's. Today is a great green way of great vitality that allows a comfortable and safe journey through the Ampurdán.
In the former shipwreck rescue station, visitors can explore the Museum of Maritime Rescue. In the southern end of the town lies the Chapel of Sant Elm, standing on the hill of the same name, which commands magnificent views of the cliffs of the Cadiretes massif. It was here the name “Costa Brava” (meaning brave or fierce coast) was coined. Inland from Sant Feliu is the spectacular rocking boulder of La Pedralta, much loved by the region’s inhabitants. Visitors to Sant Feliu can savour its oily fish (known as ganxó fish) and bunyols de quaresma (deep fried doughnuts traditionally eaten during Lent) different to all those on the Costa Brava because they are triangular-shaped.
In the coast Sant Feliu de Guíxols has beautiful beaches and coves, as the beach Sant Pol, Ametller Creek, Punta de Garbí and also Cala Vigatà. The marine wealth of the village coast is objective for the divers, that often seek its interesting underwater landscapes.

Efficient and friendly front desk and breakfast-room service.All receptionists speak English. They also know about local cultural and musical, the History Museum, for example. Very nice people. For breakfast the hotel offers quite a wide variety of dishes. On the whole I really enjoyed my stay There were a couple of minor problems with my room cleaning but on the third day of my stay the room-cleaning service improved. |

Excellent central location in the Costa Brava, easy to reach by car from Barcelona Airport. Staff is very friendly and competent. Speak perfect English, German and French. Impressive breakfast with a full selection of everything you can think of to include and English cooked breakfast, lovely breads, and a large variety of fruits, juices, cereals and yoghurts. We are keen walkers and staff were better than the Tourist office in giving advice on walks along the cost (beautiful well maintained parts of Camina Ronda within walking distance), visit to nice villages, best local resaurants, small quiet beaches again within walking distance. Easy to reach from Barcelona airport. We for sure will go back in for a short break in this beautiful costal area in the Fall and/or Spring next year. it is not really a bad point as you can see on pics already but the interior of the rooms is a bit "old" style still. Not really modern. but on the other hand: it has all it needs and the rooms were very very clean!!! One bad point maybe: there is no hair dryer in the room... |

La déco est complètement a revoir. Il n'y a aucune insonorisation on entend tout ce qui se passe dans les chambres voisines et dans le couloir. Et enfin pour finir le ménage laisse vraiment a désiré. Le prix du parking en supplément laisse un goût amer 9 euros par jour, il devrait être inclus dans le prix de la chambre. |

Un'atmosfera accogliente, rilassante e confortevole ci ha accolto all'Hostal del Sol. La stanza tripla dalle dimensioni generose era pulitissima e con un bel bagno grande. L'Hostal è situato in un elegante edificio a pochi minuti a piedi dal centro della cittadina di mare di San Feliu (bella perchè autentica e poco turistica). La mattina la colazione a buffet, servita a bordo piscina, vi stupirà per l'ampia scelta e l'ottima qualitá. Il personale è molto cortese ed il direttore ci ha stupito per gli spunti interessanti sul l'organizzazione delle uscite nelle numerose baie e località della Costa Brava sia per il supporto per la ricerca di una sistemazione a Barcellona (bravo!). Dovevamo fermarci solo per una notte (come da prenotazione booking) ed invece siamo voluti rimanere per più giorni. Consigliato a chi vuole trovare una sistemazione elegante, tranquilla, lontana dalla confusione, in posizione strategica, dall'ottimo rapporto qualitá/prezzo. La habitación no se corresponde con el standard de 3 estrellas. El edificio es super chulo, además la localizacion muy buena, aunque no esta a primera linea esta conectado con las poblaciones cercanas. La piscina super cuidada y muy tranquila. El buffet muy correcto los huevos y beacon buenisimos. El parking no era gratuito, aunque aparcamos sin problemas muy cerca. La habitación que nos tocó no tenia vistas pero era grande y espaciosa. |

L´edifici és molt bonic, les piscines ideals per a nens petits o per a relaxar-se prenent el sol i un refresc. El personal de recepció és molt atent. Està bé disposar de parking al mateix recinte per tan sols 7 euros/dia. L´esmorzar està força bé. La platja de sant Pol a la que es pot anar caminant és maca, i hi ha cales fantàstiques a uns 20 minutets en cotxe o menys. la carretera per anar a la platja o al centre de Sant feliu és una mica lletja. Les habitacions no tenen balconet, però estna bé. |

Un hotel fantàstic, molt tranquil I el personal és molt amable, ens van ajudar molt. Veníem amb les papilles del nen I ens les van guardar a la nevera, ens les van escalfar quan els ho demanàvem... Moltes gràcies. L'habitació és neta i més bonica que a les fotos, i l'esmorzar és generós. El restaurant de l'hotel, que és a uns 800 metres, al passeig de Sant Feliu. Hi vam anar a les deu, per sopar, I a les onze ja ens estaven "suggerint" que era hora de tancar. A banda, la meva dona es va demanar un marmitako de tonyina I tot era patata, de tonyina n'hi havia tres o quatre bocinets I gràcies.
