A S’Agaró, l’architetto di Girona Rafael Masó (1880-1935) ricevette nel 1920 l’incarico di progettare in riva al mare una città-giardino di linee classiche e gusto noucentista (stile tipicamente catalano degli inizi del Novecento). Vi si trovano tempietti greci, belvedere, balconate e balaustrate, e un mitico hotel: La Gavina.
