Traditional Harvesting Pals Rice is held during a saturday of October, best time to collect this grains basic in our diet and that has been grown for centuries in this area. Pals comes from the latin 'palus', marshy ground, because here there are many fields irrigated by rivers Ter and Daró, in this plain between the mountains of Begur and Montgrí. Visitors from surroundings and tourists come here to learn from the farmers about rice cultivation and the final collection, a hard work before the arrival of tractors in the last century, some of which are exhibited here, next to the typical Catalan house Mas Carles. Children enjoy a natural environment with the arrival on the touristic train "Xiulet de Pals" and the celebration finishes with a popular rice plate made from this variety, called 'Bomba'.
