The beech wood of Fageda d'en Jorda is in the Garrotxa Volcanic Park, between the villages of Olot and Santa Pau, and it is the best example of volcanic landscape in the Iberian Peninsula. It is truly remarkable that a beech forest is so close to the Mediterranean coast. But it is located 550 meters in height and on a volcanic soil that retains moisture in the mountains, and that's why these thin trunks trees develop here one next to each other, and rise to a great height, providing an oasis of freshness and green in summer. The Area Can Serra is the welcome center for visitors of this forest praised by the Catalan poet Joan Maragall. Staff will indicate you the marked trails to be walked to appreciate this beautiful scenery.
