The Castle-Palace of La Bisbal d'Empordà, from the twelfth century, was the residence of the bishops of Girona during the medieval period, which at that time had legal power. So, this castle had forks and imprisonment. It was renovated in the early seventeenth century and, in spite of these changes, we are facing one of the most meritorious romanesque civil buildings of Catalonia. The ground floor housed the rooms more functional: chivalry, wine press, prisons, etc.. The upper floors contain the bedrooms and in the terrace, next to the tower defense, there is a chapel dedicated to Santa Anna. Today, the castle houses an exhibition center and you can see the building through guided tours.
